1940s / 1950s video compilation of Gatehouse Folk

Mr William Bendon acquired Kirkcudbright Picture House in 1944 and successfully operated it until the early 1960s. He was an avid film maker recording much of Kirkcudbright's life through the years, showing his recordings in the Picture House. The link below will take you to some of his work from the late forties and fifties. Permission from Mr Bendon’s step daughter, Mrs Irene Scott has kindly been given to show these clips. Anne Ramsbottom, Curator of the Stewartry Museum loaned the Cine Film so it could be digitized and shared with the community.
